My name is Sylvia Ede and I have been playing piano since the age of seven. I passed grade 8 final at the age of fifteen and have since taught students to grade 5 standard.

As well as classical music, I am interested in playing traditional/swing jazz. I often accompanied my late husband, who played saxaphone and clarinet for many years in swing jazz bands.

Growing increasingly interested in playing popular music, I started to play/teach using electronic keyboards, taking advantage of rhythm, voice and chorded accompanyment. I find these instruments to be more practical and flexible than a piano in many ways, and that is why I continue to use them for teaching.

My keyboards have full size touch sensitive keys and for the student wishing to play piano, they are suitable for beginner/intermediate lessons. If progressing to an advanced level, the student can transition to piano with relative ease.
